Junior A hurlers go out to Skerries

JHC-C-Q Final: Skerries 4-18 Syls 0-9, Sunday 14th August 2016 – Skerries The final score-line is a bit harsh on us. We were only 3 points adrift at HT having missed a couple of goal chances. Skerries started the 2nd half with more intent and rattled off 3 points before getting that crucial goal which in truth put the match beyond us. We struggled after that, and even the injection of over 100 years experience..!! in the form of Pat Hoyne, Declan Markey and Derek Roche couldn’t turn it around and in fairness to Skerries (who are a Division ahead of us in the league) they pushed on and ran out comfortable winners.

Other interesting note was Sean Graham, Syls lively corner forward, up against his brother Danny Graham (Skerries keeper). Think Danny has the bragging right on this occasion but Seanie contributed 6 points from Syls total of 9 …a good innings

As well as Sean, three other minors gave sterling performances, Eoin Ryan and Philip Ryan at wing back and Jamie Kennedy in midfield. The future looks bright with lads of this calibre coming into the adult ranks.
