Junior A’s back to winning ways

Junior A’s back to winning ways after a 2-7 to 1-14 win over Raheny in Junior C Championship. The win was important to keep us in the race for a top 4 finish. A win in our final round robin game against Olafs (Sunday 19th June Broomfield 11:00 ) would guarantee a QF spot. Missing our Minor player contingent due to exams, this proved to be a tough test away from home.

We got into an early lead with a succession of frees, well converted into a tricky windy by Colm and Seanie Graham but were undone by a Raheny goal.

However we  responded well with  3 lovely points from play from Shane, Colm and Sean to  level it at HT.

2nd half continued much like the 1st, we got our noses in front  by 2 points only to concede a 2nd goal , but again we responded well with 2 fine points from Mannix and a brace from Sean put us back in front.  Syls were starting to press home the wind advantage now and when a long ball was directed to the net, we had some breathing space. The defence held strong against the Raheny pressure and Kevin McLoughney secured with win a nice point in the closing minutes.

Special mention for Philip Ryan making his Junior debut at wing back and acquitting himself with aplomb…dealing competently with every  ball that came his way…well done Philly
