Junior As Going Up Going Up to AFL5

We started like a train and led 6 points to one at one stage but we almost stopped dead in our tracks as Maurs took complete control and led by 1-04 to 0-06 at the break. Point sfrom Alan Morris and Kevin Casey kept us in touch and a brilliant Casey goal put us ahead and we exchanged scores with Maurs in a frenzied last 10 minutes, David Bannigan getting two late points to keep our nerves in tact.

While it is always difficult to single our players, it would be amiss of me not to mention the very solid mobile half back line led of Kevin Lynnott, Killian O'Flynn and Danny Zeleke who played some brilliant football and Kevin Casey having probably his best ever day in the blue, scoring 1-03 from play and contributing a very lively display from start to finish, a true man-of-the-match performance.

I must also congratulate Maurs on reaching the AFL1 League Final today beating Ballymun. Pity CCC couldn't avoid the fixture clash with the Junior playoff but hopefully now Maurs can get the whole of Rush out to support their team against Na Fianna in the final and we wish them well.
