Junior Hurlers win over Parnells

JHC -C Syls 0-14, Parnells 2-6 Solid defending even in the absence of the injured Ciaran Murray and Ronan Kennedy confined Parnells to only 8 scores. Hilary very assured in goal as usual and delivered long puckouts despite the strong wind. Ian, Des and Peter stood strong especially in the 2nd half facing into the wind.

Brendan, DerekM and DerekR made up a very sturdy and mobile half back line. Mannix and Johnny worked tirelessly again in the middle.

Up front, Eoin Kennedy continued his recent good form with a lively performance at wing forward that yielded a nice point, a couple of assists and a few frees. After a sluggish start, eventually six players got on the score sheet, a measure of the movement and variety in our play. Stephen Keogh had a very strong showing and 2 points. Colm O'Connor chipped in with four and Claude added two crucial scores near the end. Fergus got two points and Jodi one to bring the tally to 12 points from play. Colm Boran completed the scoring with two converted frees in a tricky wind. Gregg's late cameo nearly produced his customary goal, his blasting effort rebounding off the crossbar.

Signs that this team is gathering a bit of momentum and showing some good form but definitely a lot more in the tank
