Ladies chalk up another impressive win

Our Senior Ladies footballers continued on their winning way with a convincing win over Clanna Gael on a windy Wednesday evening in Broomfield on a scoreline of 5-11 to 1-8. Highlight of the evening was the 1-6 scoring contribution from Katie Slattery in the first half. But everyone on the field, including the subs that came on in the second half, made a contribution. It is probably unfair to single out individual contributions, as everybody played their part,

Danielle Lawless and Aoife O'Flynn stood out at corner back, Kim White at centre back was impressive in dealing with a tough opponent and showed some class in scoring a brilliant goal after a series of one-twos up the middle, Emer Tracey made some telling runs at midfield while Michelle Walls at corner forward showed how to win hard ball against tough opposition and get a couple of scores into the bargain. Special mention has to be made of Anne Clarke who covered every blade of grass on the pitch as she made herself available for passes and distributed passes in equal measure.

Scorers for St. Sylvester's were: Katie Slattery 1-7, Lucia Hughes 1-1, Emer Tracey 1-1, Michelle Walls 1-1, Kim White 1-0, Niamh Harney 0-1.

We face the same opposition in the first round of the Championship on Wednesday May 14th away in Ringsend. Do come and support an exceptional team that will be strengthened by the addition of our County players, Sinead Aherne, Niamh McEvoy and Nicole Owens.
