MINOR GIRLS LOSE OUT IN LEAGUE FINAL THRILLER

Syls Minor Girls lost by a single point in Div 3 League Final away to Ballinteer St Johns. Despite fielding a team short of many regulars, these girls showed real courage and determination (and plenty of good attractive football) to claw back from a 9 point deficit midway through the second half, playing against a very strong wind. Syls led by 2 points at half time but a couple of quick goals give Ballinteer the initiative and for a while it looked like they were going to take advantage of the strong wind and cruise to victory.

But Syls had other ideas and some great defending was the catalyst to inspire the team to rise again and there was no doubt from all present, including the Ballinteer management, that if we had a few more minutes, we would have got on top. We owned the ball for the last 15 minutes and some of the play was of the highest quality. It was a real team effort and bodes well for the future. Congratulations to Ballinteer and both teams are promoted. Final Score Ballinteer 5-5 St Sylvesters 3-10

Thanks
