Minor hurlers draw at Mearnóg

MHL 2N Naomh Mearnóg 1-11 Clan na Mara 1-11 Tough game which we led from start, just caught in the end when again some brave defending earned us the draw. We started very well and raced in to an eight point to two lead, Collie deadly from frees, Christian, Eoin Mc, Eoin K and a very lively Andrew all contributing. Mearnóg came into the game with some good scores and we led by two at the break

We traded points for a while before a brilliant goal by Christian off good play by Eoin McCarthy put us six up. Mearnóg goaled and we had one disallowed and suddenly it was all to play for. 

We missed a long free at the death to leave the game drawn.

It was great to see the lads work and fight for each other this evening. It is always difficult to amalgamate two teams but these lads are coming together very well - apart from our first game where we were slow to get going, we have lost tow games by a point, won two games by a point and drawn, all very competitive.

I have to say the backs and goalkeeper were brilliant in the last few minutes and a special mention for Dara McGrath who played what must have been one of his best game ever, from start to finish won ball from the front, stole ball from his opponent and blocked like his life depended on it.
