Minor Hurlers lose to Raheny
MHL3: Raheny 3-13 Syls 1-14 (St Annes Park, 21st June 2015) After a great fightback to get within a point of Raheny in the last quarter we were pegged back by a Raheny goal scored by their talented number 10. We tagged on 2 further points to get it back to 2 points in the closing minutes only to be rocked by another Raheny goal. Syls led by 2 points with the breeze at HT and up to that stage we had coped reasonably well with their influential numbers 10 & 11 but a slow start to the 2nd half gave Raheny the upper hand and they went into a 5 point lead.
As we chased the game with time running out, we were left a bit exposed at the back.
Although played on what seemed like a ridiculously small pitch for minor level, overall it was an enjoyable game of competitive skillfull hurling even if the result didn’t go our way.
