New floodlights for Broomfield

The club Executive have confirmed that work on installing new floodlights on pitch 2 will commence next week – this is being funded by the Sports Council Grant awarded in 2015 and the funds raised at the recent Gala Night. Total investment will be in the region of €145k

Scope of works is as follows -

Erecting and installing a sports pitch floodlighting system to light the playing area a level of 400 lux. (roughly equivalent to the lighting level at sunrise or sunset on a clear day – training pitch is currently circa 80 Lux).

Works will include:

Ø  Erection of six 20m tall steel sports pitch floodlighting columns

Ø  Electrical cabling of sports floodlighting system

Ø  Civil / Ground works associated with installation of cabling and floodlighting column bases.

Ø  Installation and wiring of sports floodlighting system

Ø  Wiring and installation of electrical distribution boards

Ø  Ancillary electrical works

Ø  Installation of diesel fuelled power generator

This is great news and a first step in developing a sports campus in Broomfield.

There may be some disruption to availability of pitch 2, however the objective will be to minimise (particularly with the improvements also underway on the Castle pitch)
