Seniors beat Oliver Plunkett's in AFL 1

AFL 1: St. Sylvester's 0-15 Oliver Plunkett's E/R 0-08 Our Senior footballers capped off a very successful week with a 7 point win over Oliver Plunkett's on Saturday evening in Broomfield meaning we took maximum points for two very difficult games following on from Wednesdays game in Ballymun.
The question coming into Saturdays match was just how much did the efforts on Wednesday take out of the lads. They answered that question by quickly racing into a 6 point lead with some great points form Michael, Dan and a rare score from Ronan Palmer (Obvioulsy taking inspiration from having Robbie in attendance). We took up we left of on Wednesday by working hard around the middle to gain and retain possession. The patient build up that has become a feature of our game in recent weeks was evident again we also added the quick ball in the the full forward line where Mick was having real success getting out in front of his marker and taking the scores. The defense was also doing it's job by holding the Oliver Plunkett's forward line scoreless from play in the first 30 minutes with their only scores coming from Garrett Smith frees leaving the home side 0-09 to 0-03 up at half time.
The second half continued in the same vain as the first with Syls dominating around the middle and creating the perfect attacking platform from there. Michael continued to stick the points over and finally finishing with 8 pts from 8 shots. The score of the half was definitely Gary Seweeney's solo effort that started when he picked the ball up well inside his own half. He set off on a 70 plus yard run that we end with him sticking the ball over the bar for another point.
All in all we couldn't have asked for more from the lads this week and confidence is now high going into our next game against All Ireland champions Ballyboden St. Enda's. Top scorers for Syls on the evening were Michael with 8 pts and Gary with 3 put again the game was notable for the tireless work put in by everyone.
