Seniors draw again with Boden

AFL1 Semi Final AET St Sylvesters 1-17 Ballyboden St Endas 2-14 Just like Ireland v All Blacks we were hit with the ultimate last second sickener with Boden scoring a scrappy goal with the last kick of extra time. At least we were 3 up and therefore get a 2nd bite but it was a match we deserved to win and should have won

Its fair to say it turned out to be an absolute cracker. Boden shaded an error ridden 1st half 7 - 5 with Syls guilty of dropping 7 shots into the goalkeepers hands and we were behind in a match we really should have been ahead in. The 2nd half was a great battle and with 5 minutes left the match was tied at 11 points a piece with Syls in the ascendancy, but we were hit with a softish Boden goal, but the lads responded brilliantly with Glen making a marauding run forward before releasing Nigel who ghosted past his marker and struck a beauty into the top corner. The last few minutes were tension filled with Boden snatching the lead but Syls again responding and Nigel brought the match to extra time when pointing a 40 metre free.

Syls were the stronger team in extra time, leading by 3 at half time following good scores from Nigel, Aido and Eugene, and still by 3 with time up when somehow Boden squeezed in the goal which means we have to do it all again. Beano, Fionn and Glen were all outstanding at the back, Ross & Shane battled hard in the middle, Joxer worked tirelessly on the forty, Gary had a super match and Nigel was on fire finishing with 1.9 to his credit. The whole team and the 7 subs utilised played their hearts out and were very unlucky not to seal their place in the final, lets hope that we can finish the job in the replay....not fixed yet but we're hoping CCC will fix it for the grass pitch next weekend and not on the all weather during the week.
