Seniors look strong at the Naul

SFC R1 St Sylvesters 1-09 St Maurs 0-09 Very important win for us given the slow start to the season. From start to finish we were by far the better team and and, for the first time this year displayed some of the strength and drive of previous years although we did waste a lot of chances. We beat a team who sit at the top of AFL1 and we are now eagerly looking forward.

We were very strong around the middle, Scooby and Ross strong and mobile especially under kick outs, backed up from behind by a very lively Beano and Collie Mc and from the half forward line with Jockser and Shane coming in from the two wings. Gary, Eoin Fanning and Alan Foy linked really well and made some great chances and Foy got the goal off one very decisive passing movement,  and Michael McCarthy popped a steady stream of points.

John Peacock made his championship debut at corner back and looked comfortable, he is very quick and unfussy , Fionn, Liam Murphy and Glenn all looked  good.

Great to see Dominic McDonnell back in serious football after a long injury and he did all that was asked of him.

Ciaran Roche came in for Shane and immediately scraped the outside of the post, Barry replaced Liam and a lively Mark Hazely raplaced John.

Bring it on lads, well done.

ST SYLVESTER'S 1-9 NH MAUR 0-9

Alan Foy's first half goal proved to be the score that separated the sides in this well-contested Dublin SFC first round duel at the Naul.
Foy's 19th minute goal came following good combination play from John Coughlan and Ross Hazley to help the Malahide side to a six-point interval advantage, 1-5 to 0-2.
