Two in a row for Senior Football

Vincent De Paul Cup Fingal Ravens 1-07 St. Sylvester’s 1-12 Our senior footballers got another good win on Saturday evening over a Fingal Ravens side who were coming off the back of a league victory over Ballymun Kickhams.

The real encouraging point from this game was the number of young lads that took the field for us with seven players aged 21 and under in the starting line-up. It was a game which Syls controlled from start to finish with Ross, Jack and Shane O’Connor giving us a strong platform around the middle from which to build on, playing against the breeze we led 1-07 to 0-03 at half time with our goal coming when Jack Hazley got on the end of long ball in to the box from brother Mark to fist home from close range.  We had to defend a fight back from Ravens during the second half and late points from Michael and Ross giving us the 5 point cushion what we held on to.

Performances of note came from Conor Quinn, Alan Kavanagh (Both making their competitive debuts for the first team) and Jack Hazley. Shane O’Connor had a great game playing at wing forward, while Conor Meaney’s constant runs in the full forward line provided options for the midfielders to utilise all game.
