U13 Football update

The U13A Footballers continued on their winning run with an impressive victory away to Whitehall. Despite conceding a goal with the first attack of the game, they were patient and calm and managed to get on top gradually, finishing the first half with a 2-08 to 1-03 lead. Danny Taaffe at full forward had a fabulous game, dominating his man and grabbing a great goal while generally creating havoc.

To their credit, Whitehall came out all guns blazing in the second half and dominated the opening exchanges, reeling off 3 unanswered points. However goals from Denis Smith, Sean Gibson and Danny Taaffes second, closed the game out on a scoreline of 5-14 to 1-11.

So with 2 games to go, we still sit on top of Division 1 , 1 point ahead. We have a big game this Saturday in Bridgefield at 3.30 against Ballyboden and we would love if as many as possible could come out to cheer us in our last home game of the season.

Indeed, there is a feast of football in Bridgefield this Saturday with the U13B and C teams playing at 2pm, so bring a picnic and stay for the afternoon! The B team put in one of their best performances of the season against a very strong Naomh Olafs (it was their A team), who are top of that division. The game ebbed and flowed but unfortunately we were narrowly beaten in the end.

The C’s made the short journey to Fingallians to play the home teams B’s and also put in a good performance before ultimately a couple of strong Fin’s players started to dominate and we just couldn’t contain them.

It is a great achievement to field 3 full squads at this age group and all 3 are competitive across their leagues. Hope to see you cheering on the lads on Saturday in Bridgefield!!!
