U13s enjoying a busy period

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the U13 footballers and hurlers. First up on Saturday 7th, all 3 football teams were away to good opposition and we managed to take home 2 victories, the A’s were impressive in a big win over in Ballyboden, the B’s had a big win over Scoil Ui Connaill A’s while our C’s were just pipped by their Ballyboden counterparts.

Then it was hot tailing it to the Regency where our representatives, Evelyn and Niall won Strictly Come Dancing. Thanks to all the parents who supported them.

The following Monday, Oliver Plunketts senior hurlers, filled from 1 to 24 by Syls players captured the Cumann na mBunscoil ‘Johnson, Mooney & O’Brien Cup’ on a beautiful day in Croke Park. Captain Tom Hogan lifted the cup after a great display by the team in which Daragh McLoughney scored 4-5. A great experience for the lads to play, and win on the hallowed ground.

It was back to basics on Saturday in Bridgefield with a big game for the U13 hurlers, while we played well we conceded too many soft goals to a sharp Whitehall team and ultimately came up short.Well done to Pearse Clyne, Conor Duffy and Krishna Joyce who have come up from the B team and created great competition for places.

After our hurling match we departed to Carlingford for a team bonding weekend. We stayed in Carlingford Adventure Centre on Saturday night and while many of the players got little sleep, they were out on the water bright and early Sunday morning for kayaking, water trampolining and pier jumping. After lunch, the 1st Battalion Malahide Ranger Wing, armed and dangerous, marched through Carlingford and up the mountain on exercises. We managed to defeat a Kildare GAA club in laser tag which almost descended in to hand to hand combat!!

Thanks to all who helped over the weekend,we all enjoyed it and slept very well Sunday night!!

Just a couple of more games left in both hurling and football before the summer break so training continues as usual.
