U15 Football Championship

The U15 footballers made their first foray in to the Championship arena on Sunday last. Both the A and B teams were handed tricky away ties in the draws with the A's travelling down to Marino to face St Vincent's and the B's up the road in Whitehall.

The A's started nervously and despite playing with the aid of a strong breeze took a while to settle, going almost 7 minutes before our first score but once it came we got another 3 in the next 3 minutes and a great Danny Taaffe goal followed by one from Denis Smith had us up and running. Vincents got a goal back before the half time break and we turned 2-07 to 1-02 ahead. While Vins got the first score of the second half, some resolute defending from no.15 back only allowed them one more point in a second have that we dominated and retained possession well. We ran out winners 2-13 to 1-04. Lots of big performances especially from Aaron Coleman, Josh Bannon, Euan Farquarson and Andrew Roe in defence. Jack Boyne is really growing in to his new role and delivered a huge performance. Upfront all worked hard and we got some great scores. Great to see so much Syls support down at the game.
