U16 Footballers Go Close in U16 Shield

Our u16A football team put in a brave performance in the u16 Shield Final and played some excellent football against a St Brigids team that have set the standard in juvenile football at this age group for the last 3/4years.

They beat us in the Div 1 feile 2 years ago. This time is was a closer affair with just 2 points between the teams. This was a very tight game right up the final whistle. No point in picking out any players as this was an excellent panel performance.

U16 football is on a an upward trajectory if this and recent performances are anything to go by. We also have our u16 b team in their Championship Final on Saturday.

Declan , Panner and Rod are putting in a lot work training and developing the lads. Sean Curley has also joined them and will add his considerable knowledge and coaching skills to the mix. Also a special mention for Aido Mahon who recently delivered some specialised training sessions. We can see the benefits already.

We still have a lot to play for as we are in the mix for the league but more importantly it looks positive for Minor football if both panels continue to improve.

Best of luck to John Maughan and his team v Finbarrs on Saturday in Championship Final.
