U16 hurlers win away to O'Tooles

St Sylvesters 4 - 17 O Tooles 5 - 6 Syls under 16 hurlers continued their good run of form on Thursday evening last away to O Tooles . A very depleted Syls squad ended up convincing winners after a very tight fought game . Syls boys got off to a flying start with two goals and two points from Eoin Cooney . Evan Walsh competed very well for Syls at this stage and won some great ball .

Our forward line completely dominated the O Tooles defence but were the recipients of some very good ball being delivered by Bryn Redmond and Daniel Deneher from the middle of the field .

With an 11 point lead going into the second half Syls had to face into a very stiff breeze and a very determined and physically big O Tooles team .

O Tooles continued to chip away at the Syls lead and got it down to one point with about 10 minutes to go . At this time the Syls defence was under huge pressure and was lead admirably by Eamonn McLoughney . The full back line of Eoin Ryan , Niall McCann and the outstanding Brian Murray held O Tooles at bay !
Sean Drumm was excellent in goals and made some great stops .

Overall a very spirited performance from a very good team saw Syls carry the day . Next up for Syls under 16 hurlers is the local derby Vs Fingallians a week on Monday in Bridgefield . Why not come along and support the boys !
