U21s impressive semi final win over Clontarf

U21 FC B semi final St Sylvesters 3-12 Clontarf 1-05 A big Syls crowd showed up expecting a tough championship encounter. Not so many from Clontarf and the respective performances seemed to match the crowds enthusiasm. There was a minutes silence observed in memory of Declan Morris who passed away recently. Although more recently associated with hurling, Declan was also a great supported of our footballers and the Dubs and the three Morris lads are all duel players.

Collie hit a few nice points, Alex and Collie a few frees and and we opened up a five point lead. Clontarf hit back with a goal and a point but some good defending from Syls contained them duriing a period of dominance by Clontarf. A swift breakaway led to a super Alex Wright goal  and it was all Syls from there. The general play seemed fairly even to me but Syls got some smashing scores and defended well to give us a fine win. New up Raheny on Saturday evening at Alfie Byrne Rd, wouldn't a win be a great start to the year.

A feature of the game was the newly introduced 'mark' and what better way to show off the high fielding skills of Jack and Simon, simply marvelous.

Great all round display, high energy, fast moving, lots of big strong lads, the big crowd will surely show up again
