Managers wanted for U21 Football and Hurling

Developments on the facilities front
Two significant developments recently on the facilities front - we now have a gaelic pitch where Malahide United used to play in Broomfield beside the hockey pitch. We also have access to the new all weather hockey pitch for winter training. There are other develoipments but I will ask Brendan to send details of what he shared at the recent club meetings. Bula bos to Brendan Bannigan and Mick Stuart for their tireless and diplomatic work with Fingal CC over the last few years.
St Sylvester’s Club notes 13 Sept 2009
At adult level the Junior Hurlers earned a hard fought draw away to St Brendan's in their Quarter-Final clash on Sunday afternoon. In Minor Football our A's needed a late goal to draw with Ballyboden while our B's travelled to Vincents and came away with a great win.

Peil Magazine - lookng for articles on ladies games
The autumn edition of Peil magazine will be going to press in early October. We are inviting clubs to send us in articles and pictures on any item of news pertaining to Ladies Gaelic Football from your club which will be relevant at the time of going to press. Articles should be a maximum of 500 words and photos should be in jpeg format. Closing date for items is Friday the 3rd of October. Club news St Sylvester’s 06 Sept 09
Pillar Caffrey said “It was one of the best championship matches I have seen in the last 10 years.” We got a great match, a great team performance, effort, commitment, bravery, skill and a great turnout of supporters; everything except the win. Having competed so well at the highest level we left with pride and honour and hope the future.

St Sylvester’s club notes 30 August
Tommy Naughton brought energy, enthusiasm and encouragement to his training session for juvenile hurlers in Broomfield on Saturday. It’s evident from watching and listening to Tommy why Dublin hurling has made such great strides forward. Thank you Tommy, you’re an inspiration.
St Sylvester’s Club notes 23 August
Our adult football teams had seven wins from seven games in seven days including four championship and three league fixtures. It was a week of pure joy. The seniors led the way winning well against Ballinteer in the championship on Wednesday and also defeating Ballymun in the league on Sunday. They play Oliver Plunketts in the next round of the Championship.

The sizable travelling contingent from the club was disappointed with the result but delighted with the great performances of Garry Sweeney and Fionn Carney for the Dublin minors in Breffni Park.

St Sylvester’s Club notes 9th August 2009
Gary Sweeney won the Halifax /Evening Herald Dublin player of the month award for July. Sinead Aherne was also in contention for the award. Gary has been the key player for the Dublin minor team, coming up with the vital scores at key moments. The Dublin minors including Gary and Fionn Carney play Down in Breffni Park next Saturday.
St Sylvester’s club notes 3rd August
The hurling blitz takes place this Friday 7th at 6.30 pm in Broomfield. There will also be a crossbar challenge for juvenile players to take part in. Some notable and legendary names are expected to take part as the ditch is vacated for one night only. Young and senior hurlers of the tournament will be announced immediately afterwards in the club house.

Sinead Aherne provided the inspiration and the scores for Dublin’s senior ladies Leinster Football Championship victory over Kildare. She received the Player of the Match award for the second year running. She is truly a remarkable player and a great role model for our younger players.

Prices Stand €30; Terrace €20 Family tickets Adults €30 Children ( under 16) €5 The club will advise shortly closing date and other arrangements for members.
Team of the Week - Syls Bar Staff
A number of people remarked on the huge amount of work the bar staff had to put in over the weekend with events on pretty much all the time and the highlight was the midnight concert on Sunday night - well done to Gary, Declan Hedgo (the real Hedgo) and the lads.
Street Leagues Finals - Another Wonderful Day for Syls
Well, we did it again - 200 players, 17 games, 34 teams, grannies, grandads, burgers, ice cream, bouncy slides . . . and the weather showed up just right. Sylvesters Annual Street Leagues Finals was another great day for our club and for the Community. Hearty congratulations to Ciaran Meehan and his team for a job very well done. Our senior footballers were in great form defeating Raheny by 1-14 to 0-4 last Wednesday. All the adult football teams are doing well in their leagues with the juniors taking pride of place on full points from 7 matches.
Syls ties with famous Cavan team of '47
The death occured recently of Father Dan Deneher, uncle of Jimmy who coaches at nursery and U8 with Syls. Dan was a member of the famous Cavan teaam of 1947. Have a look at the cutting from the paper supplied by Jimmy. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam usail.
