Kenny leads hurlers to win in Championship
SHC B Whitehall Colmclle 0-14 St Sylvesters 2-10 Two brilliant runs by Alan Kenny leading to goals by Dave Casey and Niall Coughlan gave us a great start to the Senior Hurling Championship. The second goal, a powerful finish by Nockser, came with a minute to go to give us a one point lead, quickly followed by a point by Andrew and we withstood a couple of Whitehall attacks to win by one.
We led 1-04 to 0-03 at the break after playing with a strong breeze in our backs, Casey's goal and points from Collie Byrne giving us a slim lead. Whitehall came out strong in the second half and tacked on the points but our defense held up strong, Graham and Anthony Dunne saving a number of goal efforts, Garreth and Paul Christie getting in some brilliant blocks and both very quick on the cover, Enda, Kevin McLoughney and Darra putting in many big tackles.
Kevin O'Flynn was brilliant in the middle, back to his best at high fielding and well supported by Killian until he went off injured. Diarmuid had his best game for us at centre forward and Collie Byrne and Andrew both contributing scores, Collie's free taking almost flawless. Alan Morris came in for Fionn and Niall for Killian.
