Ladies win against Clontarf

Our Senior Ladies footballers got off to a good start with a Cup win over Clontarf in their first match of the season on a score line of 0-9 to 1-4. With a mixture of experience, recent graduates from Minor ranks and a sprinkling of under age players, this team played an attractive brand of football tutored by new manager Dave McEvoy who took over only last week. There were impressive performances from some of the older players like Jackie Costello playing in goal, unbelievably for the first time,

Anne Clarke excelling as a midfield general, Amy Hazely who made some strong sallies from the full back line, Michelle Walls who got first to most balls at corner back and Carol Hickey who showed well for ball at corner forward. We were without our Senior county reps for this game. This team will be a formidable outfit when they come on board and when the benefit of some training sessions with the new manager kicks in. Next game is home to Ballinteer St. Johns in the first round of the league, Broomfield, Wed Mar 9, 6.45pm.
