Minor hurlers lose in semis to Lucan
We battled gamely to the end, Colm Byrne adding two excellent goals but all too often we ran into a determined backline although we ended the game in their square still looking for scores.
There was a great Malahide crowd at the game, a credit to the club and they applauded the lads off the field, appreciating the honest and determined effort we had put in.
Barry Shearman and Shane Nangle (we really missed Shane today, injured unfortunately) from Naomh Marnóg have guested with us for three years and Killian Power from Fingallians for two years. In that time we played in the U15C Championship Final, won the U16C league and gave Minor Div2 a really good rattle. Fair play to ye lads, it was great having you around and the very best of luck with your hurling in the future.
Ronan Kennedy has really developed as a coach and deserves great credit for the much of our successes. Thanks to Fergus Byrne for all his support (with this and many other teams) training and looking after the team.
Big thanks and well done to Bernard Boran who tirelessly organised and looked after pretty much everything else and was a gentleman in all things hurling.
While I'm at it I should wish Lucan well in the final, they were a smashing team to play against, tough and skilfull but didn't throw as much as a dirty look, there were no handbags at all in the game.
Overall it was a good league and championship, all games bar one very competitive and sporting.
