U13 football and hurling update
Saturday was hurling matches for the A and B teams with our D footballers also playing. While the hurlers went down narrowly the footballers did well to take the scalp of St Finians of Newcastle.
Sunday brought 3 football matches with the A and C squads lining out in Bridgefield and the B team travelling to Lusk. These were back matches making up for those previously postponed due to bad weather and for a while it looked like the heavy rain would claim these games as victim too. But the referee passed the pitches as playable and we got underway. The A's had a hugely competitive match against Whitehall, squeaking home narrowly to maintain their unbeaten record in Division 1.
The Bs went down to a strong Lusk A team despite fighting to the finish and there are a number of excellent footballers in this squad. Our Cs narrowly went down to a strong Boden side, slack marking at the back allowing too many 3 pointers.
Thanks to the players and parents for their support, unfortunately we need to go through it all again next week with another 6 football matches !!
