St Sylvester’s GAA club notes April 21st

Senior hurling championship victory

It was a great start to senior hurling championship, a great performance to match the occasion and a deserved victory. The first ever senior championship hurling match against Naomh Barróg lived up the billing. In a thrilling encounter we got the vital last few scores to win by four points after a comeback from Barróg brought them to within a point. It was intense from start to finish with huge intensity in the tackle. We had a four point lead at halftime but Barrog came back strongly in the early part of the second half. Our defence was in determined mood and the attack got some fantastic scores. Martin Ormonde was as reliable as ever from frees.

The junior hurlers also won their C championship match against Cuala. The minor hurlers lost to St Maur’s in the league by four points. They led with five minutes remaining but Maur’s got a late goal and went on to win.

The intermediate football team play away to St Marks on Wednesday and there is a full programme of adult football fixtures next weekend.
