U12 news - trip to Waterford and planning for 2014

The playing season came to an end for the U12s last Saturday with our hurlers completing their second away trip of the year and the fifth for the combined group over both codes. This year we have travelled to Ardara in Donegal, Salthill in Galway and Dunshaughlin in Meath for football challenges while the hurlers had previously made the trip to 3 times All Ireland Club Champions Athenry of Galway. Also attached are the presentations at the U12 meeting in the Grand Hotel on Saturday 7th

Saturday saw us square up against De La Salle of Waterford on a beautiful winter’s day overlooking the Suir. We learned during the week that our match would be the curtain raiser to a senior Inter-county Challenge match between Waterford and Wexford so there was a good crowd and it was great experience for our lads. Talking to Liam Griffin after the game he was full of praise for our players and complemented everyone on coming down to the South East and making an effort to develop the love of hurling. Thanks to Brendan Lawton, Joey Carton and all at De La Salle for making us welcome. We are part of a great organisation, everywhere we have travelled this year we have been treated royally, host clubs have been exceptionally generous with their time and resources and we hope to have as many of them back to Malahide as possible.

Next Saturday we are holding a meeting for parents and players (2.30pm in Grand Hotel). This meeting is to present the results of the online survey we asked parents and players to complete. We had a great response with 61 replies and a huge amount of constructive feedback. We will also be outlining our plans for next year and the structure of the teams, management and training. We would ask all players and at least one parent for each to attend.
