The Big Dream Day Out -Croke Park Experience for our U8's
A big day in store for our U8 Footballers & Hurlers who head to Croke Park on Tuesday 23rd to represent the Club in the Leinster GAA Experience. They'll play 2 matches on the hallowed turf and a great family day is expected. Hopefully this is the first of many visits to Croker for these young lads in the years ahead. Many thanks to Corcoran Chemicals for their continued support of this team
U8 get training gear from Corcoran Chemicals
A brilliant sunny Sunday was had by the 2008 boys on 28th May. They were presented with their new training tops by Andrew Byrne of Corcoran Chemicals who kindly sponsored the tops. They were treated to a surprise visit by Dublin Star Dean Rock who delighted the boys by answering all their questions, gave tips and advice, posed for photos and signed plenty of autographs. A big thanks to everyone who helped to make this a great day for our 2008s.
U8s Hurling vs Plunketts & Vincents
Our two U8s Groups welcomed the hurlers of St. Oliver Plunketts ER & St. Vincents to a sunny Castle last Saturday morning. Over 45 Syls hurlers played over the 2 fixtures, with the Greens facing 3 teams from Plunketts, and the Blues playing 2 teams from Vincents. The pitches had firmed up dramatically which allowed for a fast moving ball. The hurling training drills on Thursday evening clearly stuck with some superb 1st time striking of the moving sliotar in all matches.
The U8s' Busy Day .. and Night!
Our two U8s Groups had a welcome double Football fixture at home last Saturday morning. 50 enthusiastic Syls U8s players played over the morning, with the 3 Blues teams facing Erin's Isle at 10am, followed by the 3 Greens teams versus O'Tooles at 11.00am. There was a terrific crowd in attendance with the overlapping games, and a dry morning allowing for a fast pace in all the games. Scores were plentiful but more importantly, the skills level continues to improve. The coaches are especially pleased to see the application of recent Thursdays' training work into the matches in the areas of passing and blocking.
U8 football field 6 teams across 2 locations
Huge congratulations to the 2008 squad who fielded 6 teams on Saturday morning at home vs Castleknock and away vs Skerries Harps. Both blue and green squads enjoyed great success across all their matches. Our thanks to Panner and Michael McCarthy for coming to training on Thursday and running through some drills with our squad. Roll on next week!
U8s hurling at Whitehall and O'Tooles
The U8s fielded two teams on Saturday morning and, in Miriam's words, the hurling bug has bitten with this group. Well done lads, and thanks to Miriam Mead for sharing, we will watch these lads with interest and hopefully turn up in Bridgefield regularly to support them.
2008 Boys make their debut
The Journey Begins for the latest batch of St Sylvester's Footballers & Hurlers as the 2008 boys played their first league games against St Vincents & Na Fianna. Fantastic support, large number of mentors, smiles, enthusiasm and skill was evident.
St. Sylvester’s U8s (2008s) Update
After some disappointing pre-Christmas wash-outs, our U8s (2008 born) have returned to training throughout January in terrific numbers. We are delighted to see over 45 players turning up every week for midweek training (Thursdays at 6.30pm on Hockey pitch) and on Saturday mornings at the Ball Wall. The commitment and enthusiasm in both hurling and football is great to see, and there is excitement building ahead of our participation in the Dublin Go-games leagues in February. The 2016 Juvenile master fixtures list shows the key dates to note into Easter (we are CCC1 U8s), as follows:

U/7's Impressive inaugural display in Broomfield!
The 2008 squad had an incredibly impressive first outing of competitive (but very friendly) matches in Broomfield this Saturday morning. The excitement was palpable with many of the squad awake from very early in anticipation of their first ever game. Binn Eadair and Naomh Mearnog were invited to compete in this friendly football & hurling blitz, and they fielded 5 and 3 teams respectively. Photoshoot over, new club jersey's distributed and the squad dispersed into their teams. The wait was over and the games began
U7s are up and running
The second Saturday training session for the 2008 squad was a huge success. With growing numbers, a fantastic crew of mentors and great enthusiasm from the kids themselves, the training was full of fun, spirit and growing confidence. As the coaches said: keep practicing boys - you are doing great and soon you will get to put your new skills to the test with a few friendly matches in the weeks to come. Go Team 2008!"
St Sylvesters Hurling Camp July 2015
We had another great week of hurling in Broomfield with sixty five young energetic St Sylvesters hurlers taking part. Two Dublin hurlers Chris Crummy (Lucan Sarsfield) and Darragh O’Connell (Cuala) demonstrated the skills and tactics of the game. They were both very impressed with the skill level of our players and also with their willingness to listen and learn.
