Sinead Aherne nominated for All Star

Following her heroic performance in the All Ireland Ladies Final, Syls Sinead Aherne has been nominated for an All Star at the awards night in Citywest on the 13th November. We wish Sinead well as she seeks her second consecutive All Star Award. Interesting that a few lads commented that Lyndsey Davey from Skerries should have beent nominated. Tyrone thought she was Sinead's 'Terribe Twin' in the All Ireland Final., brilliant.

Ladies win over Man of War

Sorry Lads, the note about promotion was a little premature - we need a win from our last two games to be promoted. Niamh and Sinead returned to club action on Wednesday to help Syls gain promotion to Intermediate football with a good win over Man of War at Broomfield. Congrats to Brian and Dave McEvoy and all the girls on a great return for Syls Ladies.

U12bs footballers secure 2nd place

Our u12b footballers secured 2nd place in the league on Saturday by drawing away to St Brigids, we should have won the game but their keeper made some great saves to earn Brigids a draw. We finished behind O'Tooles who beat us before the Summer by 1 point in a very controversial match.

Saturday 25th Sept Syls successfully co-hosted the All Ireland 7's with neighbours Naomh Marnóg. I counted 8 pitches in Broomfield - over 90 teams attending. Big congratulations to Gerry, John, Suzanne, Angela, Adrienne, Carol, Liz, Brian, Redmond, Eddie, Anne, Martin and everyone who made it happen. I guess you will all see todays events at Croke Park as just reward - enjoy it all. Pictures from Martin Tracy

Big day for Syls as Dublin win the All Ireland

Sinead Aherne was Player of the Game with 2-07 (2-04 from play) when Dublin captured our first ever All Ireland Ladies title. Niamh McEvoy also looked very much at home in Croke Park when she came on in the second half, as did all the Dublin girls. See the report attached (from the Dublin Ladies website). The Ladies Section organised a bus so I'm sure there's a story lurking there somewhere.

U12 b's Beat Whitehall

Whitehall 4.2 Sylvesters 5.5 Our 12b's returned to action, winning a tough match against a strong Whitehall Team. The wind was a major factor and the lads had to work really hard in the 2nd half to grind out a victory, we defended with courage and discipline and moved the ball very well against the wind. Matthew Gannon came on as a sub and scored his first goal for Syls and it proved to be the crucial score of the match. Having already won the u12 cup, we are now chasing the league, currently in 2nd place with 2 games to play. If the lads keeping playing like this we should be in with a shout! Ciaran

U16 girls win at Scoil in Championship

The U16 girls had a very good Championship win away to Scoil Uí Connaill on Sunday 12th September 2010. This U16 team is a development squad this year and they have only 2 actual u16 players for most of the year. They finished mid table in the League and now face Castleknock for a place in the u16 Championship Semi Final. Eddie

Ladies lose in classic Junior Football Final

L JFC Final Raheny 7-07 St Sylvesters 6-07 Fantastic game of football in Swords this evening. Raheny led for most of the game but never by much in a game that ebbed and flowed and kept the big crowd entertained from start to finish. In game of two forward lines, Raheny just edged it with some brilliant scores but we were always in contention and great credit to our girls, they've had a fantastic return to Ladies Football and the great Syls turnout to lend support was a credit to the club - well done lads. Hopefully Brian will provide a report.

U12 hurlers host Cashel King Cormacs

Cashel won by a single point in a smashing game of hurling in Bridgefield on a magnificent Sunday. The highlights for me were a great point from David McCormack, couple of saves from Sean Drumm, Mark McCormacks catching and the overall high quality of the hurling. Well done to our parents for returning the hospitality shown to us when we visited Tipp a little while back.

Super Syls Girls Win Through to Championship Final

A game of two halves is an old cliché in football terms and that is certainly what we got on Kiltipper Road in Tallaght on Wednesday night. Syls & Davis had played each other on two occasions already this year with both sides having a win a piece, so this championship semi-final was always going to be a close affair.

The Senior Girls Team are in Championship Action in Broomfield at 7.30pm this Wendesday against St Maurs. Following a hard fought victory away to Ballyboden last week, a win on Wednesday would see the girls progress to the championship semi-finals. This is the first chance for many of the club members to see the girls in action since re-forming senior football in the ladies section, so make a big effort on Wednesday to come up to Broomfield and cheer the girls on!

Syls Girls Championship Success Away to Ballyboden

The girls traveled to Ballyboden on Wednesday evening to kick off their championship campaign with a hard fought victory. The hosts had already beaten St Maurs in a 3 team group with the winners progressing to the semi-final. Only a victory would keep the Syls girls in the competition so it was a tough nights work ahead against a very fancied Boden outfit.
