Junior Bs disappoining exit from C C'ship

JFC C St Sylvesters 0-5 Lucan Sarsfield 2-12 We ended up losing by a big margin but, to be fair, we were well in contention for about 50 minutes. We started well, made a lot of scoring opportunities, but did'nt take enough of our chances and Lucan came back stronger to lead five points to four at the break. The second half proved more difficult. We did make some chances but, except for a nice point by Karl Hand, we continued to miss the posts or take the wrong options.

U12 footballers at 'Stade de Bridgefild'

On a Sunny evening in the 'stade de Bridgefild' St Sylvester's U12's took on St Finians. The first 10 mins was tight and then flood gates opened. 3 goals and 2 points scored by midfield wizard Liam 'Messi' shalloe and a solid up and down the field performance by Sean 'the engine' O'Donnell meant that on this day Syls would be hard to beat.

U16As great win over Clontarf

U16FC A St Sylvesters 3-10 Clontarf 0-11Best display in years for a rejuvenated U16A team at Bridgefield today against a strong Clontarf. I could say we won it with a great defensive effort but, then again, I could also credit a hard working midfield or an excellent forward division, especially the full line. Maybe I'll leave it to Mike to give us the details. Next Saturday 2nd round v Cuala or Maurs at Bridgefield again, worth watching.

After losing the first match away to a very strong Fingallians side a few weeks back they played Raheny in Broomfield on Sunny Saturday and won the game by 12 points Syls 4-7 Raheny 1-4. They traveled to the other side of the Estuary on this cold wet windy Monday night where they beat St Pats of Donebate St Pats 0-1 Syls 0-4. U14 footballers hard win in the Cup

Our u14 football team won their 2nd game in the U14 Football Cup against a hard working Erins Isle team in Bridgefield. The team is a mixture of our two u14 teams and because both path panels train together the players work hard for each other resulting in some fine scores and in particular a number of well taken goals. Although there was only a goal between the teams with 10 mins to play, we defended well with Jack Hussey and Luke Cassidy putting in a lot of hardwork. Hurling . . another gift for the World

I only recently became aware of the spread of Irish Dance in Russia and places not directly associated with Ireland or Irish. Makes sense, it's a wonderful and social form of exercise and art. Gaelic football was very popular in schools in the San Francisco Bay Area in the '90s as an alternative sport. Again, made sense to me, it's a relatively easy game to play, inclusive and challenging. Never crossed my mind, however, that hurling would be attractive to 'Non Irish'. Seems to be hard enough to promote the game to many of our clubs in Ireland. Then we meet this Oyvind Dahl guy - see his email below.

Senior win in the league

AFL1 St Vincents 1-07 St Sylvesters 2-09 The goals won this one, a penalty by Gavin after good play by Micháel and a classy finish by Fionn Cahill in a first half where we threatened to run away with the game (Micháel hit the post after Ross set him up). We backed off a little in the second half without ever looking troubled. A nice late point from Eoin Boyne cheered me, I love the see the half backs supporting the forwards.
