Dual Player - alive and well
Apparently the day of the dual player is over, even at club level or so we are to believe! But see attached, 8 Clare senior hurlers winning county football and getting to Munster Club Final! Surely if they can do it we should not let our kids be told that they must choose one code over the other........ Ernie
Seniors qualify for Top4 in AFL1
AFL1 Ballyboden 0-12 St Sylvesters 0-12 A result that will hardly please Plunketts ER as the draw sees both Syls and Boden make the playoffs at their expense, ironically against each other in Broomfield next Sunday 11.00am. To be fair it would be difficult to 'conspire' a draw, especially on the pitch at Sancta Maria which has a 'summer' bounce which we found very difficult to master. Syls came from three points down in the last 5 minutes with scores from Gary Sweeney, Nigel Dunne and Aiden Relihan (great to see Aido save the day and show he still has plenty to affer at this level).

Six Syls players nominated for Blue Stars
Well done to Brian Sexton, Fionn Carney, Gavin McArdle, Eoin Fanning, Eugene Keating and Nigel Dunne - not a bad representation for Syls I suppose - dominated by Ballymun and Vincents with 11 each.

Inters lose out to Brigids
AFL3 T4 SF St Sylvesters 1-05 St Brigids 1-13 Sorry I don't have a report. The lads will be disappointed after a busy season where we went close to automatic qualification but it slipped away with a draw away to Brigids and then a narrow home defeat to Barrog. The qualifiers were always going to be difficult but the loss through injury of Mark Reilly, Campers, John Peacock proved too much. Congratulations to Joe Boyne and his team (Ciaran, Conor, Paul, Cotsie) and the lads for a very competitive season.

Seniors win over Lucan
AFL1 St Sylvesters 1-12 Lucan Sarsfields 0-07 Won well in the end, look us a while to find our feet in our first game after the Championship. Boden away in the final game to qualify for the playoffs.

U21s win at Maurs
U21 A FC St Maurs 0-07 St Sylvesters 4-07 Sounds like a big win and in the end it was but we had to battle hard up to the 4th quarter before pulling away. This is our first U21 win in a number of years and sees us into the quarter finals in two weeks I think.

Vincents shade it in C'ship QF
SFC QF St Vincents 0-14 St Sylvesters 2-07 We left Parnell Park very disappointed but proud of our team after losing by the narrowest margin against a good Vincents outfit. We fell five points behind in the first half as we struggled to get a grip around the middle but we gave a great display in the second with two great goals and two more that got away but time ran away on us as we tried to get the equaliser.

Inters lose narrowly after extra time
IFC last 16 Na Fianna 2-12 St Sylvesters 1-11 AET We seemed to be chasing for most of the game but never gave up and snatched a draw with a penalty at the death to force extra time. We started extra time as if our fitness would give us the advantage and led for a while before a Fianna goal gave them the advantage and they held out to win by four I think. Hopefully Cotsie will write a more comprehensive report.

Seniors safely over St Johns
SFC last 16 St Sylvesters 1-19 St Johns Ballinteer 1-09 A super first half performance and a more workmanlike second saw us safely over a strong St Johns outfit that have been getting a lot of attention since beating Plunkets in a previous round. We started brightly but only had three Nigel points to show from a dominant first quarter before a defensive mistake gave Johns a converted penalty.

Inters take the Loving Cup
LOVING CUP FINAL - St. Vincent's 0-07 St-Sylvester's 0-09 Our Intermediate footballers claimed their first (and hopefully not their last) piece of silverware with a hard fought win over a very competitive St. Vincent's side in PNU on Saturday evening. The rain that had been threatening all after finally arrived right before throw-in so the conditions ensured that this game wouldn't be the high scoring shootouts that the previous two meeting between these sides were.
White men can't jump!!!
Bernard sent me this picture of Jack against the Meath U17s on Saturday. Then I spotted one of Brian McCarthy on his way down over at Brigids.
A few good friendlies
Seniors and minors playing plenty of friendlies in preparation for Championship - lots of good points from play in a senior game against Athy, minor hurles had good games against Whitehall and Castlenock and the minor footballers had a good win over Meath U17s
Inters draw, stay top
AFL3 St Brigids 1-10 St Sylvesters 0-13 We led by six at half time after dominating with a bit of a breeze in our backs but we probably should have been further ahead. Alan blazed across the face of the goal and a few disputed wides costing us. Brigids came at us in the second half but good defense from Higgens, Peacock and Shaloe kept them to a few points until we got ourselves into the game.
Syls footballers top three leagues
Ok, nothing won yet and we were a little deflated at the senior game Saturday but our adult footballers are top of AFL1, AFL3 and AFL6 this morning and that is well worth a mention . . . well done to all the lads and here's hoping we celebrate with some silverware in a few months.
