Performance under pressure in sport
We had a special mentors presentation on Thursday evening with a good attendance on performance under pressure. Martin Fairn, www.gazing.com, a professional rugby player and advisor to many top class athletes and sportsmen held a very engaging session with many insights into how to prepare mentally for events, how to recognise what we can control, what we might influence and what we cannot control. Special thanks to Martin and to the juvenile committee members, MIck Dowling, Paddy, Fergal and Liam Brennan and especially Jenny Keogh and Gina Lillis. who prepared the hall so nicely.
Bar Relocation & Broomfield Facilities Development Update
Hi Folks This is a quick email to update the membership on some recent developments in our facilities program within the Club. It has been a busy time behind the scenes and we have recently undertaken a number of key projects. Planning Permission for Floodlights Ball Wall Clubhouse and Bar Developments
New Defibrillator for Syls
Niall O'Donnellon presented a new AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) to Ciaran Meehan last evening in memory of his wife Jean. This is a very generous gift from the Donnellon family and, while we hope not to be using it too often it is great to now have two of these very useful devices, one at Church Road and the second now at Broomfield. Thanks to Michael and your family for this very nice donaion.
SPECIAL EVENT - Performance Seminar - May 7th
We will hold a special mentors engagement event on 7th May at 8.30pm in the club house on Church Road. At this event we will have a special guest speaker Martin Fairn, CEO of Gazing Performance Systems (www.gazing.com/gazing-in-sport) who will talk about helping young people perform under pressure in sport.

Tributes to Dave Billings
I see where Dave Billings has passed away. I was only chatting to him in Broomfield on Saturday evening he cycled out to watch the senior game, I was pucking on the same pitch and he stopped to chat and asked was I still playing away. He was even captured in one of the photos above the right shoulder of No 2. Always said hello, RIP. Hilary Murray-Hession
Dave Billings RIP - one of the great Dubs
Dublin GAA is shocked to hear the sudden passing of Dave Billings, St Vincents and Dublin stalwart of many years. As recently as last Saturday he was in Broomfield at our senior football game and we exchanged the usual pleasentaries - he had a dig at Pat and Dan (I stayed out of his range) as he cycled by. Anybody who ever kicked or pucked a ball in Dublin will have a fond memory of Dave Billings and we are much the poorer for his passing. The lads at St Sylvesters would like to pay our condolences to Dave's family and friends, he was a great character.
Race Night was a great success
On behalf of the organising commitee of last Saturdays race night can I please thank all those that supported the event on the night, a big thank you to all the sponsors that took out ads in the program and sponsored races, to all those that purchased horses and jockeys and to Dec Hetherton and all the bar staff a huge thank you for helping make the night go off so well.
Drug Awareness April 16th -OFF to be rescheduled
There will be a "drug awareness" evening which will be held at St Sylvester's GAA club house on the evening of Thursday the 16th April 2015 at 8.15pm sharp. This very important event has been organised in order to raise awareness to the levels and extreme perils of drug abuse in modern society
First Aid Course This Weds 7.30pm
A reminder to all that the First Aid Course will start at 7.30 pm this Weds 1st April downstairs in the Clubhouse. If anybody who had confirmed but can't make it or anybody who would still like to attend if they could please advise by return.
St. Sylvester’s Golf Society
St. Sylvester’s Golf Society has been in existence for many years. Its membership comprises mainly of people who have been involved in the football and hurling sides of the Club down through the years. The Golf Society which is affiliated to the Club organises a number of golf outings each year both local and further afield.
Big Turnout in Club last Saturday
Many thanks to Robbie for organizing to bring the senior teams down to the Club last Saturday. Also a special thank you to Rod Fitzpatrick for all his work encouraging so many from the nursery section to come down to the Club as well ( despite his dodgy directions). Great to have so many newcomers to our Club - all are welcome. Thanks to everyone for their continued support. Hope to see you all again next Saturday.
Support for Ladies Football

Scór coming to Dublin - volunteers needed Feb 14th
Scór All Ireland Finals takes place in Dublin this year, the 1st time since 1972,. It was held in the Gaiety Theatre on that occasion. Scór has grown over the years & this year Scór is being held in City West Hotel, expected attendance at each All Ireland is 2,000. Scór na n Óg All Ireland takes place on Feb 14th & Scór Sinsir takes place on April 25th.
Paudi Butler Ball Wall for Juveniles
I have just got word that Paudie Butler is doing a Ball Wall Hurling session for Juvenile coaches tomorrow in Fingallians, 11am to 12 noon. Its free, open to everyone and no need to register. Regards Panner
Dublin National League Games in Croke Park
The Dublin Senior Football Team will play their 3 National League Home Games in Croke Park with one Double header with the Senior Hurlers on Saturday 7th March.
The Laura Brennan Charitable Trust Gala Evening 2015
Saturday 7th March 2015 The Grand Hotel Malahide This year’s event promises to be another great one. Champagne reception, followed by a three course meal, After-dinner entertainment, Auction, Raffle and Music which promises to keep the whole floor full all night.
St Vincent De Paul Night Great Success in Syls
The St Vincent De Paul Night Sunday 21 December 2014 was great success. We had great prizes donated and ended up with €770 to hand over to the Charity. This may not be the final figure. Nicola Brannigan of the FAI kindly donated a jersey signed by the Irish Soccer Team which went up for Auction.

Limerick Supporters Network.
The Limerick GAA Supporters Club and Limerick County Board are looking to expand our network of contacts of Limerick people in Dublin. In particular, we are looking to identify at least one Limerick person in each GAA Club in Dublin.
Golf Classic - thanks to all our supporters
