Strictly Syls Dancing June 7th
News Update - There was a terrific launch party for the club’s big fundraiser “Strictly Come Dancing” – Syls style – in the club last Friday night for the big dancing spectacular in The Regency Hotel on Saturday night, June 7th.

What a terrific buzz in the club, with the launch of #StrictlySyls Come Dancing in the clubhouse last Friday night combining with some fantastic results on the playing fields.

Admission charges to Club Championships
Please be advised that the admission charges for championship games in 2014 will remain unchanged from previous years. Admission to senior championship football and hurling games up to and including semi finals will be as follows : €7 for single games at a venue or €10 for double headers involving a senior championship game. This will not include the Senior B championship games which are played at home or away venues. Admission to intermediate championship football games up to and including semi finals will be as follows : €5 for single games at a venue or €7 for double headers for 2 intermediate championship games. This will not include the Senior B championship games which are played at home or away venues. Regulations in relation to gate of gate receipt for hosting clubs remains unchanged.

Strictly Dancing Launch in Syls this Friday
St Sylvester's GAA Club - THIS FRIDAY 2nd May, from 8pm. Who will dance the Cha-cha-cha? Who will do the Rumba? What about the Tango? Come along to the launch of St Sylvester’s “Strictly Come Dancing” in the clubhouse this Friday night (May 2nd) – kick-off is 8pm – to find out who will be strutting their stuff on the floor at the club's dancing extravaganza.
Lena Murray (nee McMyler) RIP
It is with deep regret that we advise you of the recent passing of Lena Murray. The Murray family represent all the reasons why we all get involved with the GAA . Stephen, Lena and their family are superb supporters of Sylvester's be it quiz nights, cake sales, coaching and helping out with teams etc. Reposing at her parent's residence tomorrow, Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm. Removal on Wednesday to the Church of St. Sylvester's, Malahide arriving for 10am Funeral Mass followed by cremation in Glasnevin Crematorium
Sylvester’s GAA Club notes (week of April 27th)
A busy week ahead on and off the playing pitch, with the Junior footballers facing St Maurs in Rush on Tuesday (7pm) and the Intermediate footballers in championship action on Friday evening against Ballymun Kickhams at Whitehall Colmcille’s ground in Cloghran (7pm).

St Sylvester’s GAA Club Notes 13 April 2014
There was a large attendance at the club AGM last Thursday night. Best wishes to our new Chairman Ciaran Meehan and the incoming Executive Committee. Mixed results for the adult footballers this weekend – seniors were beaten by Ballymun, Inters drew with Ballyboughal while the junior footballers won their matches against Civil Service and St Maurs.
St Sylvester’s GAA club notes 6TH April
Sinead Ahern scored eleven points for Dublin in the win over Tyrone. Niamh McEvoy put in a great performance at midfield and Nicole Owens came off the bench to play her part. They play Monaghan in the league semi-final on April 27th. Our own senior ladies football team got off to a great start to the league with an impressive win over Clontarf.
Malahide young chess players are double winners
In the Dublin Community Games Chess Competition played last Friday, Malahide pulled off the double, winning both the U16 and U12 events. The U16 team were, in fact, the reigning champions, and successfully defended their title to win the their second in a row.

Sunday was a very fine day with all of our four adult football teams winning their games AFL1 Templeogue SS 1-8 St Sylvester’s 2-12 The senior football team had a very good win away to Templeogue. The forwards had a very good outing. AFL3 St Sylvester’s 4-13 St Marks 1-8
Patrick (Pinnie) PENROSE RIP
We are sad to report the passing of Garry's grandfather Pinnie Penrose of Balgriffen. Removal on Thursday morning from Rock's Funeral Home, Swords to St. Nicholas of Myra Church, Kinsealy for 10am Mass followed by Funeral to Old Balgriffin Cemetery.
BOI Awards - another great night at Syls
We held the Bank of Ireland Awards in the clubhouse on Saturday and it was another great night for the club. The highlight was Michael Stuart winning Club Person of the Year and Christy Reilly was selected to our Hall of Fame for long and committed service to Sylvesters and Dublin GAA. We seated 150 for dinner in the upstairs lounge thanks to the excellent catering of Mary Byrne and the food was really good and served quickly, thanks Mary and your very pleasent staff. Lisa McIntyre and Darragh McGrath were the hosts and they were absolutely brilliant. Big big thanks to Aileen O'Flynn, Francine Shelly, Declan Ryan, Frank Down and Gary Penrose for a very polished event, it surely sets a template for many more like this. Big thanks to Bank of Ireland for once again sponsoring Syls. Thanks also to the Oasis Group, DAA and Audi North for all your support and encouragement. Congratulations to all the players and best of luck in 2014.

St Sylvester’s GAA club notes 9th March
Sinead Aherne scored 1-3 for the Dublin ladies football team that drew with Cork in Parnell Park and remain unbeaten at the top of the table. Niamh McEvoy also put in an outstanding performance and Nicole Owens came off the bench to play her part.
Cheltenham Race Night
The winner of the Cheltenham Race Night was Pat Mccarthy (Michaels father) - hope the week is lucky for you Pat and all our other racing fans.
St Sylvester’ GAA Club notes 2nd March
AHL3 St Vincent’s 2-9 St Sylvester’s 1-12 The intermediate hurlers got off to a great start with a battling performance to gain a draw away to St Vincent’s. Most heartening was the appearance of Fionn Carney and Niall Coughlan playing on the same pitch where they played senior football last week.
Maura Glennon RIP(Ann Moore's mam)
Maura Glennon passed away in Tyrellspass Co. Westmeath last night. Maura was mother of Ann Moore a Mentor on the Syls Minor Ladies Team and also a Mentor on the Scoil Iosa Ladies Senior team. She will be reposing in her home in Church Road Tyrellspass until Saturday morning before her Funeral which will follow 12.00 Mass in St Stephen's Church, Tyrellspass. St Sylvester’s GAA club notes
AFL1 St Vincent’s 3-7 St Sylvester’s 0-16 This was a great result for the team and the new management. In very blustery conditions we put up some very good scores with Michael McCarthy prominent and excellent performances from all the players. There will be disappointment that we didn’t come away with all the points.
Margaret (Rita) Stapleton RIP
Margaret (Rita) Stapleton has passed away. She was the mother of John Stapleton a former Syls Player & Mentor. She was also the mother in law of two other former Syls players Mick Kelly and Tom Bambrick. Many people in Syls will have known and will remember Rita.
Club notes 17th Feb 2014
After this week’s washout we have another full programme of football matches next Sunday February 23rd, The senior football team are down to play away to All Ireland finalists St Vincent’s at 10.30. You couldn’t ask for a more attractive fixture. Congratulation to St Vincent’s on this great achievement.
Club notes 9th Feb
2014 Ladies National Football League Dublin 3-9 Kerry 0-7 Sinead Aherne and Niamh Mc Evoy both played full games for Dublin in this league opener. Sinead also contributed three points in what was a comfortable win. Dublin led by 3-7 to two points at half time.

Ciaran Roche and Donal Hayes banked a whole lot of cash for the club with a wonderful fundraiser on Saturday, the football sevens. They also banked even more for the club in terms of the solidarity and goodwill generated by bringing the whole club together for a great day in the field and a full house in the club.
