21 hurlers win at Crokes

21 hurlers win at Crokes

U21 HC C Kilmacud Crokes B 1-09 St Sylvesters 0-22 Good win, led from start to finish and generally looked the better side against an always handy Crokes. Early points from Eoin McCarthy, Eoin Kennedy and my man of the match, Jamie Kennedy was followed by a pretty wasteful period where we relied of Dan Murphy's free taking to keep the scoreboard ticking. A Crokes goal pegged us back for a little while but tightened up defensively, Thomas Colclough finding his form in the second half, Mikey, Eamon, Philip, Barry continuing where they left off at Minor and, while never completely comfortable, we maintained control for the second half.

Girls' Under 14s Division 2 Play-Off Winners

Sylvester’s Under 14 girls had a great victory last Sunday over Plunket’s in a play-off that saw our girls win the division 2 title! The match itself was played at a thunderous pace throughout with both sides intent on winning the ultimate prize. The many spectators who turned up on a cold and wintry day were kept on their toes by a hotly contested battle from start to finish.

U21 football win at Ballinteer

U21 F B C'ship Ballinteer St Johns 0-09 St Sylvesters 0-15 Won by six, could have been sixteen, smashing energetic display fro a very young team. We were very solid down the middle and that gave us a platform for the lighter but very fast minors.

U21 Football and Hurling

Syls U21 Football will be managed this year by Paul Hussey with assistance from Seamus Early, Cathal O'Donnell and Kenny Lawlor. First game in the U21 B Championship is this coming Saturday 19th against Ballinteer I believe - will post details when I can find them. The U21 Hurlers are managed by Leonard O'Carroll with assistance from Jimmy Deneher, Anthony Cooney,Bernard Boran and Liam Foley. They had a walkover awarded by Round Towers C last Saturday in the U21C quarter final (I think Towers had a clash with Inter Hurling). U21 is always a great competition, watch out fofr details and get out and support Syls.

Best wishes to Sinead at the Ladies All Stars tonight

Congratulations to Sinead and also for her recent All Star nomination. She gets my vote but I'm sure that's no surprise. The nominees have today been announced for the TG4 Player’s Player of the Year awards with the overall winners set to be announced at the 2016 TG4 All Star Awards at the Citywest Hotel on November 12th. Briege Corkery could be set to win her third Player’s Player of the Year award and her second in a row as she is nominated for the award along with fellow 11 time TG4 All Ireland winner, Bríd Stack. Dublin’s Sinead Aherne is the third nominee for the honour following a series of brilliant performances throughout the year.

U11 s being put through their paces by Dubs star

U11 s being put through their paces by Dubs star

At the end of a long tough season most inter county players are putting their feet up or catching up on some well earned socialising but not our Niamh Mc EVOY who was up in a bitterly cold Broomfield to coach the U11 s. it shows the calibre of person Niamh is who will give her time up like this and boy did the girls enjoy it. It was no surprise that once word got out who was training them that there was a 100 % attendance.

U15 Report from Ernie

U15 Report from Ernie

Winning a Championship takes hard work in all kinds of weather and, as this picture from an U7 challenge match against Clontarf in November 2008 shows, this group of 2001 boys have never been afraid to put the effort in, an effort that was rewarded by the clubs second U15 A Football Championship in 3 years on a glorious day in O’Toole Park

Milestone reached by U16 Footballers

Our under 16 footballers completed their juvenile football journey on Saturday with their last competitive games at U16. Our A’s had a tricky assignment in Castleknock. A revised throw in time to accommodate the Dublin senior championship final saw us without some key players.

U15s magnificent championship win

U15s magnificent championship win

U15 FC Final St Sylvesters 2-12 Ballyboden St Endas 1-07 A really top class display by our lads to beat an equally fine Boden team in a very entertaining game at O'Toole Park in Crumlin. Sean Guiden was awarded man-of-the-match for a great display of point scoring from full forward. Goalkeeper Simon Murphy made two super saves in the first half and saved a penalty at a pivotal point in the second while Euan Farquarsan and Aaron Coleman in the half back line were strong contenders.in what was an all round great display from the Sylvesters team. Ernie will send a report when he catches his breath and Maurice has pictures. Congrats to David 'Super' Ryan, Panner McCarthy and Ernie Brenner.

Minor As win at Boden but fail to qualify

MFC A Gr1 An excellent six point win away to Ballyboden wasn't enough to see us qualify for the semi finals as Clontarf beat Crokes to take the second spot. Pity really as this team, operating in Div2 of the league, were really taking shape and well justified the decision to push for A Championship participation.
