Seniors lose narrowly at Ballymun

AFL1 Ballymun Kickams 1-11 St Sylvesters 0-13 Narrow loss in a game neither side could control in any way. We both led but Syls look the stronger in the last quarter, led by one but missed a few chances and Kickams kicked two on the break. We actually thought it was a draw. Jockser, Cian and Barry all played.

Seniors win over Na Fianna

AFL1 St Sylvesters 2-17 Na Fianna 0-11 Very impressive win over Na Fianna with pretty solid contributions throughout the field. An early point by Glenn Hazely was a sign of things to come when Glenn followed immediately with another overlap to setup Michael McCarthy for a tap in goal. Aido found his range after a few early misses, Ross and Bracken regained control in the middle after a few quiet minutes and we led 1-10 to 0-06 at the break.

Syls seniors join Inters and Junior 1 teams in Cup Finals:

St. Sylvesters 1 - 13 St Judes 1 - 08: I stand corrected, however I believe this is the first time in the clubs history that 3 Adult football teams will contest 3 Cup Finals in the same year. This was a low scoring game in the first half, with both teams settling well matching one another score for score. However the game took a turn in Syls favour when A Relihan finished to the back of the Jude's net to take a 3 point lead at the break.

Footballers in three Cup Finals - Reporters needed!!

Starting tonight with the Joy Cup Final where our Inters face Oliver Plunkets ER at the Army Grounds in the Phoenix Park. The Seniors qualified for the final of the St Vincent de Paul Cup with a good win over St Judes at St Margarets last night while the Junior As beat Thos Davis on Tuesday to qualify for the Parsons Cup Final. I badly need reporters and photographers to keep up with all these games and it's a pity not to record and share our successes. Good luck to all the lads, it's never easy to win any competition.

On pitch2 the Inters had a tough encounter with a strong Ballyboden

Two wins two losses in football

Seniors lost by a goal away to a resurgent Fingal Ravens at Rollestown last Saturday. Disappointing result from our perspective but fair play to Ravens who have stopped a slide with some great results lately. Our Inters won away at Lucan in the League after a shakey start. Niall Higgens and Brian Shaloe got a special mention for their excellent defending. Junior As had yet another win in a fine game against Bank of Ireland. Ronnie was kicking points for fun, Declan Markey also hit some nice scores and Kevin Lynnott was excellent in the middle.

Two losses one win in football

The seniors lost away toTempleogue SS (sorry lads I didn't get any report). The Inters lost at home to Clontarf on Saturday evening. We led 8 to 3 at half time after playing some lovely football with the wind behind us but we probably needed a goal or two from our dominance. Clontarf scored three quick points after the restart and pushed on. We had a good spell towards the end but could not break them down. The Junior A team had yet another excellent win away to Fingallians on Friday evening - no stopping these lads.

Disasterous win sees seniors go top

AFL1 St Sylvesters 2-10 St Maurs 1-10 A fine win to go top of the table was spoiled by a bad leg break suffered by our County U21 Star Gary Sweeney mid first half. The game was stopped for about half an hour while the ambulance came. I understand Gary was comfortable in Beaumont last night waiting for an operation and I know that everyone at the game, and I'm sure all Dublin fans, wish Gary the very best.

Busy day in football and hurling

Inters won well over Ballymun to secure a place in the Joy Cup semi final and the Junior As followed with the same result in the Parsons Cup. The Junior Bs were very tight for numbers and put up a spirited display but suffered a heavy defeat in Howth in the Sheridan Cup. The Inter Hurlers secured a draw after leading for most of the game at Rathcoole while the minor footballers, minus their county players lost by 5 to Na Fianna. Junior B Hurlers struggled for numbers and lost to Clontarf . A lot of games with a lot of lads away.

Seniors safely over O'Tooles

SFC St Sylvesters 3-19 O'Tooles 0-05 In this case the score probably is a fair reflection of the game as,apart from the first 15 minutes, we dominated this game in all sectors of the field. Yet again Ross Hazely lorded the middle and was well supported by Shane. Cian was back at full back and was a steadying influence with 4 under 21s in the backline.

Two wins and a loss in cup football

The Junior A team continued their very impressive run with a win in the Parsons Cup over St Margarets by 2-06 to 1-05 and the Inters Joy Cup Syls 1-14 Garristown 1-05. The Junior Bs snatched defeat from the jaws of victory giving up three late goals to lose 5-05 to 1-16 to Towers Clondalkin. It was a great pity as we had played some smashing football early on with Dave Smeaton and Mark Gillette on song early on.

Seniors shoot on sight at Clontarf

AFL1 O'Tooles 0-07 St Sylvesters 1-12 With Darren and Nigel resting for county duty and Micháel, Aiden and Fanning out with injuries our forward line tonight all staked their claim with some excellent scores. Glen got a good goal after some very swift passing, Russy found his shootiing boots from play and hit two lovely frees from the ground, John Coughlan, Andrew Hartnett, Gary, Campers all contributed good points and we seemed to be happy to simply shoot on sight and I thought it paid dividends.

Juniors qualify for B Championship Semi Final

JFC B St Sylvesters 2-11 Wanderers 1-04 A brilliant second half performance where our young team simply had too much mobility after a very tight first half. At one stage we were 4 points to 1 down but a good goal by Andrew Berry settled our nerves and we trailed by a point at the half. Homer and Graham Morris cleaned up in the backline, Dominic and Kevin Lynnott were on top in the middle and the speed of Killian O'Flynn, Garreth McGrath and Barry Cowley was too much for Wanderers up front. Senior footballers lose to Templeogue SS

SFC R1 Templeogue Synge St 1-15 St Sylvesters 2-09 A very disappointing loss in the first round of the championship after a very hot and cold display. We had started well, took a point when a goal was on, a few points then a goal from Darren off a Daly pass and it looked good for us. As usual, not many games are won in the first ten minutes and so it proved yet again.

Junior Footballers qualify for Quarter Final

JFC B St Sylvesters 2-05 Ballymun Kickams 1-06 I only saw the last few minutes - a smashing goal by Andrew Berry to put us a point ahead, a couple of missed frees and a Messi style point by a 'looking good' Barry Cowley. A great win in front aof a good crowd. Quarter Final next Sunday at Broomfield 11.00am against Wanderers or ? Thanks to Killian K for the pictures.

Dublin U21 win All Ireland

Another great day for the Dubs and Syls players Gary Sweeney and Fionn Carney defeating a fine Roscommon team who led up to 50 minutes but changes in the Dublin team saw us take over in the last 10 to win by seven points. Gary Sweeney had another fine game at centre forward (Dessie Dolan likened him to Declan Sullivan the way he set up our attack). Congratulations also to Nmh Marnóg players Michael Gibbs and team captain Kevin O'Brien.
