Milestone reached by U16 Footballers

Our under 16 footballers completed their juvenile football journey on Saturday with their last competitive games at U16. Our A’s had a tricky assignment in Castleknock. A revised throw in time to accommodate the Dublin senior championship final saw us without some key players.

U16 footballers lose to Whitelhall in C'ship QF

I believe we lost by 6 points in the quarter final of the U16 A football championship at Whitehall's new grounds at Collins Ave. We led by two points at half time, We fell a little behind but were within two points late in the game when a Whitehall goal finished this game off. Ciaran was happy with our performance against a very accomplished Whitehall who have now prevailed over us two years in a row.

We led well at half time but Judes came back strong and made us work for tthe win in the second half. In the D Championship we stayed with Ballinteer, just three points down with about ten minutes remaining but, despite two great saves by our keeper, Johns finished strongly with some good scores.

U16 Footballers Going Well After Weekend Win

The U16A footballers recorded an impressive win over Oliver Plunkett's last Saturday in Broomfield. Plunkett's were on a roll coming into the match having won their first three. Playing with the wind in the first half, a Stephen Lowe goal and points from Brian Murray and Gavin Hydes saw us up by 4 points at the break. Within minutes of the restart Plunkett's bagged 1-2 to lead and there was a real danger that they might kick on from there. However to their great credit the lads dug in and steadied things and a David McCormack penalty pushed us back in front

U15A Footballers finish season with a brave effort in championship semi final

The U15A footballers put up a spirited performance on Sunday morning against Whitehall in our A championship semi final in Bridgefield. The lads never looked out of place against a Whitehall side that finished 2nd in Division 1 this year. The game was still in the balance until the last 15 minutes when Whitehall's experience at this level saw them finish out the stronger side. Having beaten Division 2 champions Skerries in the first round and St Vincents in the quarter final these lads know the level at which they can perform and if they stick together and train hard through the winter they can be sure of giving Division 2 and U16s championship a real go next year.

Determined display not enough in U15A C SF

U15A Football Championship Semi Final St Sylvesters 1-06 Whitehall Colmcilles 1-16 I was surprised the margin crept up so much as we were very competitive until the last 10 minutes in a very entertaining game in Bridgefield with a good crowd and a lovely sunny morning. We led for a good period of the first half but a bigger Whitehall sitting on top of Div1 were always able to take good points and got aheah 0-08 to 1-04 at the break. We stayed close for the third quarter but unfortunately missed the few opportunities we made while Whitehall broke away for a good goal and closed the game out. I think everyone present enjoyed a good skillful sporting game and good luck to Whitehall in the Final.

U15 A Championship The Under 15 A footballers displayed amazing character to come from behind and secure a five point win against St Vincents in the their A championship quarter final on Sunday morning. Syls found it difficult to get to grips with a very physical Vincents side in the first half. Our defence worked very hard and absorbed a huge amount of pressure. The Division 1 side however, had the best of the half and a Luke Peyton goal just before half time saw Syls lucky to finish the half only 4 points down.

The U15A footballers secured an impressive 9 point win away to Skerries on Sunday. Skerries finished top of division 2 and we knew that our lads would need to produce a big performance to get past them. Each and every one of the panel stepped up to the challenge. Second win in Four days for U15A footballers

Thursday evening last saw the fifth win on the trot for these lads. Having overcome a tough OP-ER team on Monday evening this was always going to be a big game. Na Fianna were indeed up for it, moving the ball quickly and tackling ferociously from the outset. Our forwards worked back into a crowded midfield and slugged it out for the first half. Playing into a stiff breeze we were happy to be level at half time (Syls 1-6 to NaFianna 0-9). In the second half . . .

U15A Footballers continue their good run of form

The U15A footballers made it four wins in a row last night against a tough OP-ER team in Bridgefield. Our lads found it hard to break through a very determined Plunketts side that packed the midfield and worked very hard to frustrate Syls in the opening minutes. Patience and persistence paid off however and two first half goals from Gavin Hydes saw the home side lead by seven points at the break. This could have been a tighter margin but for some exceptional goalkeeping from Ewan Snow including a penalty save.

The U13 footballers put in a very confident performance against Raheny last Saturday afternoon winning 4 -9 to 1 - 7 to follow on from an excellent victory a couple of weeks ago against Nh Mearnog. However, one special mention for Jamie Costello - it was only his second outing in goals and he made three outstanding saves.
