Dressing Room Cleanup - 16th March

Following last night Adult Games Meeting we have agreed to proceed with the Dressing Rooms and Pitches general clean up. Attached is a draft proposal of some of the work that has to be done. In order to arrange the project I will need the names of managers who are willing to help out on the day and take a work group for a particular task. I also need the names of players that are willing to attend next Saturday and give a hand with the various jobs. Can you come back to me with volunteers in the next few days and I will arrange them in groups for the various tasks to be done. Enquiries to Joe Boyne at joe.boyne @ electricireland.ie

DUB HUB HALL OF FAME – DES FOLEY

By Cian Murphy on HILL16.IE - A nice honour for the Foley family of Malahide. It is fitting that on the weekend that the GAA keeps the inter provincial series alive, that the Dub Hub salutes Dublin GAA’s greatest ever dual star – Des Foley. Des was at the height of his fame in the '50s and '60s in an age before TV and the internet. But his exploits and the mark he left on those lucky enough to have seen him in action have stood the test of time.

Syls celebrate 2012 in style

Another great night out at The Grand from Eddie, Francine, Aileen, John, Ger and many more. Gareth O'Connor compeered while Darragh O'Sé regaled us with his Gaeltacht, Kerry and Paudi stories (it was like listening to a poet, his West Kerry lilt, what a lovely self effacing guy). John 'Skinner' Ryan took the Hall of Fame award - why did they call you 'skinner' - "sure, there wasn't a pick on me" while John 'Daly' Comey, a self proclaimed "Man they couldn't hang, his neck was too hard", took the Clubman of the Year award, both to standing ovations.

Minor A championship final St Sylvester’s 0-8 Kilmacud Crokes 0-10 It was almost the perfect comeback but time ran out. When we did cut loose we fizzed and played some fine football. The great effort and determination that went into this campaign meant that the loss was keenly felt. The journey is the reward and the journey goes on with the future of the club safe in the hands of these great players. It was a proud day for the club

Brendan McKernan visited Syls

All Ireland winner and Down corner back Brendan McKernan stopped by for a chat on Friday evening. Did we ever come to terms with Down winning the year Meath beat us in the famous four game series . . that was a funny one for sure . . I don't think we ever gave them credit even though they started an Ulster revolution in GAA. They also beat our beloved Dubs in '94 just to prove it was no fluke . . .ask Giddy about it. (Maybe not . . )
