Good Championship wins for both hurling teams
Two big wins in adult hurling - looks like the wheels are back on the wagon - reports from Danny O'Connor.
Syls celebrate Lá na gClub in style
The GAA is alive and well and living in Malahide after 125 years, no doubt about that. Susan, Ciaran, John, Ernie, Suzanne, Gerry, Declan, Brian, Francine and many more put on a show and the club turned out, young and old, to celebrate. Of course, it helps when the sun shines while the pipers led the teams down the hill to Church Rd after an afternoon of crack in Broomfield and a late night the night before. Well done Syls. I will posty a fe wmore pictures in a few days
Boys and Girls play out a thriller
Fresh from league success on Friday the U14 girls pitted their wits against the U13 boys fresh from hurling success yesterday. The lads dominated the first half and ran up a tidy lead. The second half was a different story and the lasses laid siege to the boys goal, knocking up a decent score. And nobody complained that all 30 girls were on the field for the half. Very sporting, and Syls definitely won.
U15 hurlers win over Vincents
The hurling gods and legends of former times turned on the sunshine in the field of dreams on Sunday morning and took their seats to watch the under15 hurlers celebrate the 125th anniversary. Both teams contributed to a perfect celebration.
Syls shade it in cracking U13 tussle
The U13 hurlers got back to winning ways with a two point win over Finbars of Cabra in a great game at Bridgefield. We had a beautiful afternoon, a good crowd, a great turnout and to celebrate Lá na gClub we took a snap of the two teams together.
Under 14 Girls Beat Féile Champions in Division 1 League!
Following their heroic efforts in the Féile last weekend Eddie and Ann O’Mordha’s Under 14 Girls team got back to winning ways in the league with a superb win against Ballyboden in Broomfield this evening. Playing against the wind in the first half we trailed our visitors by 1-7 to 1-1 at the break. The girls came out in the second half and put in a spirited display to take some great scores and coupled with resolute tackling and defending and their never say die spirit, they edged out winners by a goal in the end.
Midweek results - good week for us
Great Minor win at Ballyboden (Aaron Carney scored 10 ponts), Junior Hurling Championship win, U13Bs and U15 win in football, U14s lose in hurling.
Nuachtlitir Chlubanna Bealtaine 2009

3rd TEAM WIN IN RUSH.
PARSON CUP: St. Maur’s 0-04 St. Sylvester’s 2-13 (Played Tuesday 5/05/09)
U16Bs unlucky to lose shield semi -final
Syls 1-8 O'Tooles 2-9 - Lads lost a few points but thought Syls were the better team and produced some flowing football but didn't convert chances to scores. A soft goal was their undoing.

We are also delighted to announce that GV Wright has joined our Board of Trustees and we thank him for his families support of St Sylvesters over many years.
Club notes May 4th
The senior team suffered a one point championship defeat to a very good Ballymun team and now join Crokes in the draw for the next round. That draw will be interesting to say the least. The intermediates had a one point victory over Isles. Micháel, who serves a nice pint in the bar, was ice cool when he served up a brilliant winning point. The juniors had a bit more to spare, winning against Liffey Gaels by 9 points with a great team performance.
Inters hold out for win in Championship
After leading comfortably, the Inter team nrearly let Isles back into the game with two second half goals. St Sylvesters 1-10 Erins Isles 2-6 . . maybe Cathal or Declan will send a brief report.

Under 14 Girls Win Group – But Lose Out in Semi Final of Feile
Congratulations to our Under 14 Girls on winning the Feile Division 1 Group 2 played in Broomfield on Saturday. This was a great achievement by the girls to go unbeaten in the three matches. The performance against Clontarf was particularly noteworthy as they reversed a 7 point deficit at half time to a nine point victory at the end. This earned us a semi-final spot against Kilmacud Crokes over in Ballyboden on Sunday.
Feile Weekend and U16 Shield Semi-Final
Please support our teams competing in important competitions this weekend. Som egreat action expected at Bridgefield, Kilmacud and Finglas.
Close . . but no cigar in Senior Championship
We lost cos we scored less than the opposition. Well dooh!! We made about the same number of chances but didn't score enough from distance and Kickams got a few telling points in the last 10 minutes that was the difference. Not a bad performance against a fine Ballymun team but, well . . . .
Junior D Championship win - impressive show by Syls
Our fourth team were the first adult football team to take the field in championship this year. The team led by Declan Barnes and Pajo Gallagher made the trip out to Liffey Gaels. 23 players togged out. This is an achievement in itself as the team has numerous injuries at present but very encouraging to see some young players combining well with a few St Sylvester's veterans.
Syls in the news - Wexford star Diarmuid Kinsella
WEXFORD footballer Diarmuid Kinsella is set to join Dublin club St Sylvester's of Malahide. Kinsella missed Wexford's great season last year as he was working in Hong Kong, but he has since returned to inter-county action. And it has emerged that he has applied to transfer from his home club of Castletown, who look unlikely to try to block his move. From the Irish Independent 29th April 09

Good win for U16B footballers - Shield Semi coming up
Our U16 Div 3 side have booked a place in the u16 B Shield semi final by beating the league leaders Naomh Barrog. It was an extremely tough game and we were 6 points down at half time. Mid-way through the 2nd half we were 1 point to the good but Naomh Barrog battled back to a 2 point lead.

U14 footballers still going well
St Vincent's 3-8 St Sylvester's 4-13 These teams will meet again in two weeks time on May 2nd as part of the group of four for the All Ireland Feile. The other teams in our group are Ballyboden and Crokes and the group will be hosted by Crokes. With all that in our favour support would be very welcome on the day and bring the rosary beads as well.

The lads came our firing on all cylinders today with a much more convincing performance against local rivals Fingal Ravens. All adult teams had good wins, great start to the season.
Seniors lose to Davis - Inters draw at Marnóg - Juniors beat Parnells - 4th team still unbeaten
We lost the Div1 game at Broomfiled because we simply showed up too late and took far too long to get to the pace of the game.

Syls Under 16 Hurlers returned to winning ways with a hard fought but well earned win away to Naomh Barrog on Saturday. Syls started brightly and David Kennedy had our opening score within in the first minute, however Barrogs came storming back managing to get in behind our full back line to crash home a well taken goal.
U11 hurlers backup U13s
Although we lost to Brigids we were delighted with the overall effort and especially with the contribution of some U11s playing two years up but looking very comfortable.

QUOTE 1: "Treacy got a couple of great goals?" -- reporter tees up Anthony Daly after Dublin hurlers lose in Tipp, despite the scoring heroics of young David Treacy. "Three was never a couple!" -- Daly replies by way of helpful clarification. Proof that at least one (former) bank official out there knows how to count.
Under 8 Hurling Mar28th

Bits and Bobs
Was this the week the Dubs arrived . . . or do Kerry just bring out the best in us . .
Results for March 29th
Three wins in adult football, a draw in minor hurling, most of the rest fall into the good effort category.
Great win at Senior Football
Nice to welcome the All Ireland Champions to Broomfield and especially nice to repeat our win of last Autumn over Crokes to take our first points of the campaign. The first half was tepid enough, Crokes got the first two points, we slowly woke ourselves to around the middle and were probably unlucky to be only one up at the break - Beanos' point probably the pick of our effort
All coming together at U8
Syls Under 8 footballers continued their campaign with a hard earned but deserved win away to Whitehall Colmcille on Saturday. This was our 3rd win in a row with only St. Vincents in the first game of the season getting the better of us.
